Medieval battle reenacted south of Moscow Yaroslav the WiseThousands of period-garbed medieval history enthusiasts from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus have reenacted a historic 11-th century battle between the forces of two Russian Dukes, Sviatopolk and Yaroslav the Wise, for the disputed throne of Kiev.

The actual battle was fought in what is now Ukraine, and the reenactment of it, in Russia, on the left bank of the River Oka near the town of Serpukhov a hundred kilometres south of Moscow.

The victor was Yaroslav the Wise.
