HOW MANY EMPLOYEES DO YOU HAVE? Presently, I am in the process of interviewing for part-time assistance. I estimate to have fewer than five employees.

DESCRIBE THE PRODUCT OR SERVICE OFFERED: The Fun House–Medieval Kingdom is a birthday party and recreational facility entertaining all ages in an authentically replicated medieval setting.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS? I have been asked this question before and there really isn’t one direct answer. I didn’t plan to start my own business; it was more of a desire to express myself to families about the importance of interaction with children. I am a proud parent of a daughter who will be 21 years old at the end of this year. I speak from experience when I state that all of her birthday celebrations were very important to me. It was a time to bring together friends and family to celebrate her life. Unfortunately, most establishments that were available to me for these celebrations always left me feeling dissatisfied. I also found this experience to be true for many other parents.
Hence the creation of The Fun House–Medieval Kingdom. We have a private castle party room to start, costumes for all guests, role playing for all that attend, games of skill and a feast that is a child’s dream. I wanted to provide a place where parents could just hand me the guest list and feel stress-free on the rest. I also wanted to prove that children can have structured fun and not have to be entertained with electronic games or devices.

WHAT MAKES YOUR BUSINESS UNIQUE? The Fun House–Medieval Kingdom is very unique. This establishment captivates a time in history, a place to escape to, with all the details thoughtfully handcrafted and built with the consumer’s experience in mind. There was a great deal of passion that went into creating “the medieval kingdom” which makes this place a special experience for all that attend.

ARE THERE ANY BRAND NAMES YOU OFFER OR WHICH YOUR CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE AWARE?
The Fun House–Medieval Kingdom uses the following products: Papa Gino’s food, Coca-Cola, Turkey Hill ice cream, Ronnie’s Old Fashion Slush, Elope novelty hats, and Rubies costumes.

BEFORE YOU OPENED THIS BUSINESS, WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD AND DO YOU HAVE ANY RELATED ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
I would have to say my journey up to this point has provided me with pieces of knowledge and experience in many areas. From different positions I have held to academic classes, I have educated myself with the overall operation of creating and running a business.

HOW IS BUSINESS SO FAR?
Since I had the opportunity to operate this business in another location previously, I can speak from experience that the overall concept of our services connected very well with the public. (The grand opening was scheduled for Saturday.)

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR BUSINESS 1 YEAR FROM NOW:
The future is very hard to predict, I have started with a vision and will continue to work toward that goal. I would like to think that The Fun House–Medieval Kingdom will continue to grow into a theatrical recreational facility that entertains families and children in an atmosphere that allows everyone to escape from the normal everyday life. A facility that parents enjoy as much as the kids do.

To look further down the road, I look forward to offering drama classes where children can come and learn about role-play and the basics of theatre. For now, though, we will continue to do what we do best, offer great services in a remarkable atmosphere.
